Magnificat House of Discernment
St. Rita Partners with the Magnificat House of Discernment for Women
Housed in the 2nd & 3rd floors of the St. Rita Rectory, the Magnificat House of Discernment for Women is a collaborative discernment house for women co-sponsored by 44 different congregations of women religious and the Archdiocese. It is the only full-time home opened in the United States for post-college age women to live in community while discerning a possible call to religious life.
The program revolves around the established daily routine of the residents and includes private prayer time, formation, spiritual direction, shared meals and community living -- all with the goal of assisting each individual woman discern her vocation. Residents will be expected to contribute to the daily life of the house. Visitors, family and friends would be welcomed at all times.
Two local religious, Sr. Gloria Murillo, STJ, a Sister of the Society of St. Theresa of Jesus, and Sister Theresa Pitruzzello a Sister of St. Joseph, serve as the mentors/directors of the house. Sister Beth Fitzpatrick, Vicar for Religious in the Archdiocese, provides oversight of the program and also resides there.
